Bak Kut Teh @ Sem Kim, Jalan Ipoh.

I had always been a fan of bak kut teh - and as you can see from my size as well as awesome body shape - you know I dont lie. Sometime ago - I did a little research on bak kut teh places - and I concluded that there are perhaps only a handful of good bak kut teh restaurants around.

One of these places - is of course, the once-very-famous, Restaurant Sem Kim - located opposite the famous McCurry place along Jalan Ipoh. Dont know where McCurry is? This is next to the Tan Chong Motors.

The oil rice - yau fan.
Not many places does the 'yau fan' as good as this place - and be sure you are there early enough to order the yau fan. If you were to go after certain hours, the yau fan might be sold out!

The special customized bak kut teh.
You can customized the bak kut teh as you like - like most places. Choose between the '3-layer half fat half thin', 'fah yuk', mushrooms etc etc.. and my personal favourite - the pork balls. Yes, they actually have pork balls for their bak kut teh.

One more good look at the bak kut teh.
I mentioned that this is perhaps one of the better places around. Why? I've tried all in - at least about 40 different bak kut teh places around the whole Klang Valley. Some the soup were too salty, some too sweet, some too thick, some overly herbalicious, some just didnt have the taste. This - was actually almost perfect - the soup was just nice (maybe a little salty for some), the taste was about right and the herb smell was just enough.

I dunno what this is called in English - but its called 'lou chu yok'.
Not many places have this - and this dish is not for those who only want lean meat. Its fattening, its filthy and best part is - its really really damn good!!!!!

Last but not least - yau char kueh and fu chuk to go with the soup.
This one is standard stuffs lah... just go and try their bak kut teh ok!

Chill Time @ Jarrod & Rawlins.

The weekend was filled with plenty of scorching hot sun, and the fact that the previous evening we were in Genting Highlands only made it a lot more contrasting. It was super hot, and it felt as though I was going to get a heat stroke anytime. However, coincidentally, the skies decided to start pouring - the moment I parked my car!!!

We went to Jarrod & Rawlins - the cosy branch at Damansara Heights.

We brought Fatty along too - and she was just monitoring to make sure I ordered something for her.
This place is just so doggie-friendly, and so cosy to just sit around and chill out.

You can tell how happy Fatty was.
Fatty was feeling a little sick, but being out with her Daddy and Mummy on a Sunday afternoon - yes, just her alone, Ally was at home - just made her extra extra happy!!!

The nice appetizer Cheese and Chocolate cake.
The cheese was soft and it almost felt like it was melting... super sweet and nice =)

My order for the day - an early dinner.
2 pieces of pigs in a blanket, 2 pieces of pork sausages, 100g of streaky pork bacon, and a baked potato that comes as a side dish. The gf ordered 100g of brie cheese too - that was some solidly heavy meal!

Here's some crackers to go with the brie cheese.
The cheese was nice, but might be a bit too cheesy if eaten on its own. So, put it on some crackers and VOILA!!! The perfect cheese escapade!

Ka Wha Korean BBQ, Bangsar.

Since I've been blogging about bringing my furkids Fatty and Ally out a lot, how about another one to add to the record? Here's another place that welcomes doggies freely - Fatty and Ally even got to sit around on the sofa!!! So far, I've brought them out to many different places, hence I've created a new Tag called 'Schnauzer Friendly'. If you think your dogs are as cute as my Fatty and Ally, I believe these places would welcome your dogs too =)

This place is actually upstairs of Mak Koh Restaurant at Jalan Telawi 2 in Bangsar. What is it called? Its called Ka Wha - Korean BBQ Restaurant.

Ally was wearing her cone, but we thought it would be nice to bring her out.
Ally was sitting on the chair, next to the gf - and she was basically just waiting to grab some food if she could... eeesh so naughty!!!

Fatty was meanwhile sitting with me...
A very happy Fatty - sat next to me and watched me cook... hehe yes, I can cook you know! Especially when its simple grilling... its pretty easy!

It was just two of us; and the buffet was RM 48 per pax.
The food was free flow, order as much as you can eat from the menu. Those above were the ready cooked ones - and it tasted alright.. Kimchi, deep fried pork pieces and a stewed pork.

The raw meats - ready to grill.
I ordered the pork slices - when grilled, it actually tasted very much like bacon. In fact, the pork strips was the best tasting dish I would say! The gf ordered the lamb - which took a lot longer to cook. Chicken was pretty good too. Importantly, you need to dip your grilled meat in the sour/salty powder thingy - topped with some sesame oil... Awesomesauce!!!! =)

Watch how I cook the pork slices....
You can see how attentive Fatty was... just staring at me...
