MiGF 2011 - Lai Po Heen, Mandarin Oriental KL.

Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur's Lai Po Heen is in this year's MIGF 2011 - and this year, they present their new Executive Chinese Chef Ricky Thein as well. Chef Ricky - yes, some of you may have met him and seen him before, and he had previously won the Award of Excellence at MIGF 2007 as well as MIGF 2009 before.

Lai Po Heen is the premium Chinese restaurant in Mandarin Oriental KL, and its internal setting is rather suitable for the cuisine - with some antique furniture from Melaka, and architecture reminiscent of old Shanghai. =)

Anyways, what is in Lai Po Heen's Festival Dinner menu?

Chilled vinaigrette scented cucumber roll, roasted duck yam puff with braised whole baby abalone. Already sounding a mouthful - and I love my yam...

As for soup - there's the Cantonese styled braised sea treasures (comprising fish maw, sea cucumbers and so on), shark's fin in a cute golden melon in supreme broth. The ideal soup to start your meal and get your taste buds running!

...then came the main course. If you like tong poh yoke - you will like this.

This is the tong poh style barbecue scented lamb ribs with Chinese pear, sitting on top of the wok-fried Hong Kong baby 'siew pak choy'.

To fill up your tummy further, there's also the crispy egg noodles, blue river prawn, prawn roe and egg gravy...

As for dessert, Chef Ricky compiled the purple sweet dumpling in vanilla sauce, the sweetened jelly with osmanthus, chilled with sage in lemon syrup and the trio of sweet potatoes just to end your meal perfectly. =P

All this - are priced at RM 228++ per person (without wine).

Kampung Nelayan Seafood, Parit Jawa.

Okay, while the photos of the MIGF launch are still in my camera, let me post up something else that I had previously downloaded out the pictures. =) This was my lunch... about 2 weeks ago, on the way from Batu Pahat to Muar, stopping by a small fishing village called Parit Jawa.

A real fishing village, with all the fishing boats etc.

....n then, there was the restaurant... it was packed with people, and the queue and the wait... lets just say the crowd was almost like how Fatty Crab is at Taman Megah.

The signature otak-otak.

The asam fish. A must-try dish.

The petai/assam squid.

The fried fish - another delicacy.

Prawn Noodles, Meng Kee, Batu Pahat.

About two weeks ago, I went down to Batu Pahat for a friend's ROM - yes all the way down to Batu Pahat. Batu Pahat is a district in the state of Johor, Malaysia. It lies south-east of Muar, south-west of Kluang, north-west of Pontian, and south of Segamat and the new Ledang district. It is rather huge... and it is indeed famous for some of Malaysia's most famous people - including MCA President Chua Soi Lek, Tan Sri Vincent Tan of Berjaya... and then there is also the famous biscuit crackers Hup Seng and so much more...

...and so, we got there rather early, and we stopped at this place right next to the ROM location; a little coffee shop called Meng Kee. =)

And then I ordered the prawn noodles... a simple looking, but really nice... yummyyy...

The 'sui kow' soup.

A good start to the morning.

Oriental Cravings, One Utama.

There are always times when I am at One Utama - and then after an hour of shopping or so, or come to dinner time - I feel like having a simple bite - but just dont know what to eat. I mean, some of the food places there just doesnt attract me, some are just too heavy, and some well... not worth it. =)

Oriental Cravings - would be one place that beats that description above. For - this is perhaps one of my 1st choice when I am eating at One Utama.

Whether you are ordering dishes and rice, or a la carte meals, or both... I think that Oriental Cravings fits the bill well; giving you a really nice lunch/dinner/snack at an affordably fair price.

Feels just like home cooked food. =)

The eight treasures fried rice - my favourite. =P

Chun Kee Da Pu Hakka Noodles, Pudu.

Awhile back, I remembered watching Jason Yeong a.k.a. Axian on Astro - and he introduced this place - which somehow sparked a massive crowd going to this place. In fact, the weekend after that episode of his show, I brought dad and mum there - but it was super packed and we ended up eating elsewhere; disappointed, and rather annoyed. =(

And so more recently - the Devil brought me here, and I was telling her about how packed the place would be and so on.... but fair enough... it was not THAT packed lorr...

The Famous Chun Kee Da Pu Hakka Noodles, just off Jalan Pudu. =)

Just check out the Hakka noodles.... mmm yummmeeehhhhh....

Delicious homemade noodles, with pork bits, char siew... simple and easy.. where to find lah?

Take that - and add on their nice kopi and there you go, an awesome brunch meal.

LeVain Boulangerie Patisserie.

Today's post - is gonna be rather simple, and short.... more pictures than words. =)

This is yet another revisit. =) My previous visits - here and here.

If there is one place for some really nice and yummy and fresh pastries that I would not resist - it would be Levain Boulangerie Patisserie - perhaps one of the best recommendations that I had given amongst all my food posts. LOL.
